SoHo Terrace Native garden

Our objective was to design a space for our client, the editor of a literary magazine, for hosting dinner parties and a gathering place for friends. The terrace was long and narrow and needed divvying up to create spaces for both dining and lounging:: We transformed the middle of the terrace into a dining area with a lounge at the end. River birch trees offer protection and shade, with foliage turning golden yellow in the fall.

We warmed up the space with a native plant palette, custom wooden planters, and terracotta pottery. The custom planter carries the garden across the entire terrace and unifies the garden rooms for a totally immersive experience.
